IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Feb 25, IRNA -- The youngest son of the embattled Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Saif al-Arab joined the Libya’s anti-government protesters on Thursday.

Saif al-Arab Gaddafi was sent by his father to help the Libyan security forces with the widespread crackdown on pro-democracy protesters in the eastern parts of Libya, but he joined the protesters.

Libyan security forces have killed at least 1,000 anti-government protesters so far.

Muammar Gaddafi came to power 42 years ago in a bloodless military coup.

Pro-democracy protests were inspired in Libya on February 15 by the popular uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia.
