Unidentified armed men have launched an attack on the house of Libya's new Prime Minister Ahmed Miitig in the violence-plagued capital, Tripoli.
A government official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said four assailants fired rocket-propelled grenades at the house early on Tuesday, sparking clashes with security guards.
Miitig and his family members were in the house at the time of the 3:00 a.m. local time (0100 GMT) attack, but escaped unharmed.
The official further noted that one of the assailants was killed and another arrested, while the rest fled.
Miitig and his cabinet took oath before the Libyan parliament's speaker Nuri Abu Sahmain on Monday evening.
The parliament elected the 42-year-old businessman as the North African country's new prime minister on May 5, 2014, three weeks after the resignation of Abdullah al-Thinni from the position.
Miitig's cabinet also won the vote of confidence Sunday in Libya's General National Congress.
Meanwhile, objection is made to the election of the new prime minister, especially from forces loyal to renegade General Khalifa Haftar.
Nearly three years after the fall of late Muammar Gaddafi, Libya is still grappling with rising insecurity as the country has been witnessing numerous clashes between government forces and rival militia groups.
The former rebels refuse to lay down arms despite efforts by the central government to impose law and order.
Thousands of angry Libyan demonstrators have recently taken to the streets in different cities to protest against lack of security across the North African country.
