Japan Has No Qualification to Be Permanent Member of UNSC

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, March 13 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a singed article stresses that Japan has no qualification to be a permanent member of the UN Security Council in all respects, noting that it is an impudent and imprudent behavior for Japan to make desperate efforts for the membership, not aware of its position. Referring to the fact that Japan set it as a major target of its diplomatic activity to become a UNSC permanent member this year marking the 60th anniversaries of the end of the Second World War and the foundation of the UN, and is making desperate efforts for its attainment, the article says:
This issue can not be solved by money or backing of big countries but by the recognition of the international community.
Disclosing that Japan has no independence, its diplomacy is that of following and submitting to others and it has no pluck to take action responsible for world security and international order, the article goes on:
If Japan, a servant following the United States without independence, becomes a permanent member of the UNSC it will only result in adding one vote to the U.S. in harassing world security and international order.
As Japan is a dangerous warlike state which is seeking overseas aggression going against the trend of peace, its attainment of the UNSC permanent membership will give the Japanese militarists the wing of revanche for aggression.
It is an insult to the international community to offer the permanent membership to Japan which is distrusted by its surrounding countries because it has not yet redressed its past blood-stained aggressive crimes and which is hell bent on the war moves without shirking off the ill fame of an "enemy state" registered in the UN Charter.
Japan's bid to become a UNSC permanent member is to be a political power to use its status in satisfying its wicked desire for hegemony in Asia and the rest of the world. It is contrary to the basic mission of the UN for Japan to become a permanent member of the UNSC and it will be troublesome to the world people desirous of peace.
Japan should take this year on which the 60th anniversary of the defeat of Japanese imperialism falls as a good opportunity to redress its past crimes, remove the stigma of an "enemy state" and gain trust from the international community. And it should discard the harmful sense of national superiority and chauvinism and candidly join hands with Asian countries with a clear understanding that it is a member nation of Asia.
