Base Terrorism against Chongryon Slammed

    Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- Minju Joson Sunday in a signed commentary condemns the Japanese reactionaries for perpetrating hostile acts against the Niigata Prefectural Headquarters of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). We cannot overlook the crimes committed at the tacit connivance of the Japanese authorities, says the commentary.
    It goes on:
    The gun-firing at the Chongryon organization is unpardonable grave terrorism threatening the lives and properties of Koreans in Japan and a despicable act intended to create uneasiness and fear among the Japanese and thus fan up prejudice and antipathy towards Koreans in Japan.
    The Japanese authorities should fully guarantee the legal activities of Chongryon and status of Koreans in Japan in the basic spirit of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration and take all measures to prevent the recurrence of similar incident.
