KCNA urges world community to beware of Japan's militarization

KCNA

Pyongyang, June 14 (KCNA) -- Japan is moving fast to emerge a military power and launch expansion overseas. War maneuvers under the simulated conditions of an "emergency" are now under way after the passage of bills on "emergency" through the diet. The Prime Minister rendered the "peace constitution" politically dead when he openly underscored the need to revise the constitution, saying that "Self-Defense Forces" (SDF) means an army.
Timed to coincide with his outbursts, the right-wing reactionaries let loose a spate of outcries calling for a war and justifying Japan's past crimes, something unprecedented in its history.
These facts call upon the international community to be beware of Japan moving so fast to emerge a military power and launch its expansion overseas.
Japan has taken a series of judicial measures in a bid to render the postwar "peace constitution" invalid.
Three bills on "emergency" were passed through the diet by a majority vote recently. This is little short of completely ditching the "peace constitution", which had been hard hit by the carriage of the "law on emergency in surrounding areas" and the "law on special measures against terrorism" in the past.
Japan keen on emerging a political power, had long called for "emergency" legislations only to meet a strong rebuff of anti-war forces at home and abroad.
The "law on overseas troop dispatch" and the "law on emergency in surrounding areas" were adopted after the outbreak of the Persian Gulf War in the 1990s. They paved the way for the overseas advance of the SDF and the steady expansion of the sphere of its activities.
Japan has actively joined in war actions in various regions under the pretext of "supporting anti-terrorism war" taking the reckless war fought by the U.S. against terrorism after the "September 11 incident" as the golden opportunity of adopting "laws on emergency".
Japan listed the DPRK as the first target of its overseas aggression.
It is clearly proved by the fact that Japan cited the non-existent "threat" from the DPRK as a pretext to adopt the dangerous and aggressive laws on "emergency".
Japan has not yet shaken off its disgrace of being an enemy state though over half a century has passed since the end of the war. Its attempt to justify its war actions will only aggravate the situation on the Korean Peninsula that remains complicated due to its nuclear issue and escalate the military tensions among Asian countries.
Japan is well advised to drop its old dream of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere and behave with discretion.
