Kharrazi: Israeli nuclear arsenal main threat against regional peace
IRNA
Tehran, May 28, IRNA -- Iran's Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi here on Wednesday called the nuclear arsenal of the Zionist regime of Israel as the main threat against peace and security in the region. Kharrazi told a meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) that the Zionist regime must be brought under pressure to disarm and to join international conventions against weapons of mass destruction. He said the Zionist regime has been pursuing the policy of "coercion and terror" against Muslim nations, particularly Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia, and called for collective efforts by the OIC to thwart Zionist threats. Kharrazi further said that Israel continues its policy of occupation and repression against the Palestinians and voiced regret that the Zionist regime is not committed to any peace process in the occupied territories. He said the Israeli non-commitment to peace constituted the primary factor for the current crisis in Palestine, stressing that Muslim nations must promote unity in supporting the inalienable rights of the Palestinian nation. "A fundamental and final solution to the Palestinian issue can only be realized through an international consensus, with the UN playing a central role," Kharrazi said. "A Palestinian state formed in a process of free election with participation of all Palestinians will have the respect of the international community and all Islamic nations", he concluded.
