Israel was recently connected to an American satellite system that is
capable of providing instant notification of ground-to-ground missile
launches, YEDIOT AHARONOT reported.
At the beginning of the Gulf War, the Pentagon used the satellite system
to relay notification of Scud launches to Israel. By the end of the war, the
U.S. had provided Israel equipment enabling direct notification of the
launches, but it was later returned.
The new system connects the Israel Air Force directly to the U.S. Missile
Warning Center in Colorado, and will provide instantaneous warning of
missile launches.
