PM Netanyahu at the Western Wall tunnels, attended the annual ceremony for the Netzach Yehuda preparatory programs and haredi hesder yeshivas that operate under the aegis of the Shomer Yisrael organization, which oversees all of the haredi tracks in the IDF.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:
"Torah study will continue always, but a large public can also combine study with the military. Today we have enhanced this with very vigorous IDF efforts to enable someone to be inducted ultra-orthodox and be discharged ultra-orthodox, to maintain the heritage of Israel while defending Israel. See what we are discovering: We see that this integration is not only possible, but that it is powerful. I have seen the soldiers and the Hasmonean Brigade; I was there. I have seen the Nahal Haredi. I saw their service in Gaza; they have eliminated dozens of terrorists in exemplary fighting. We have also lost dear soldiers; may G-d avenge them.
I have also seen the same heroism here, in Jerusalem. Three days ago, we saw that terrible massacre, and a huge - even bigger - tragedy was prevented by a Hasmonean Brigade soldier. I salute him and his comrades. There is no contradiction; there is integration and this integration is powerful.
Our enemies know that we are lined up against them, like we did yesterday in Yemen. In Yemen there are some of these who won't know that, since they are no longer with us, many. But we are operating without fear and with great faith in order to ensure the eternity of Israel."
