Tehran, IRNA -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pursued the dismissal of the head of the internal security service in Israel as a power struggle reaches a boiling point.
Netanyahu said he has had ongoing distrust with Ronen Bar, and this distrust has grown over time, The Associated Press reported on Monday.
According to the CNN, Netanyahu is believed to have majority support in government to remove Bar, but the move could be subject to appeals by Israel's Supreme Court.
The prime minister has consistently criticized the agency, holding its leaders accountable for the security breaches that led to the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023.
Following an internal inquiry, Shin Bet, the body responsible for tracking domestic threats to Israel, acknowledged that it had not accomplished its goal of preventing the attacks.
