Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, today, met for approximately two-and-a-half hours with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The meeting was friendly and productive; an expanded meeting was held afterward, with the participation of both sides' professional echelons.

The issue of the Iranian threat was raised, including the need for both countries to unite against it. The Prime Minister thanked the American Secretary of State for the support of the US in the fight against Iran's axis of evil and terrorism.

Prime Minister Netanyahu updated Secretary of State Blinken on IDF actions in Lebanon, and on the need to effect a security and diplomatic change in the north that will enable Israel to return its residents safely to their homes.

The American Secretary of State expressed the US's deep shock over the Iranian attempt, via Hezbollah, to eliminate the Prime Minister of Israel, and made it clear that this was an exceptionally extreme incident. The Prime Minister thanked the Secretary of State and said that this is a dramatically significant issue that must not be ignored.

Prime Minister Netanyahu also spoke with Secretary of State Blinken about the progress of the fighting in Gaza against the Hamas terrorist organization, and the supreme efforts that Israel is making to bring all of the hostages back home.

The two sides discussed the issue of the governing framework in Gaza on the day after the war. The Prime Minister emphasized that the elimination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is likely to have a positive influence on the return of the hostages, the achieving of all the objectives of the war and the day after the war.
