IRAQ SANCTIONS COMMITTEE ELECTS NEW CHAIRMAN
The Security Council Committee established by resolution 661 (1990)
concerning the situation between Iraq and Kuwait held its 125th meeting
today to elect a new chairman. Antonius Eitel, the new Permanent
Representative of Germany, was elected Chairman of the Committee for the
remaining part of the year (17 July to 31 December).
Mr. Eitel succeeds Detlev Graf zu Rantzau, Germany's former Permanent
Representative, who served as Chairman of the Committee until the end of
June.
The two Vice-Chairmen of the Committee are the representatives of
Botswana and the Czech Republic.
