The referenced Bulletin is canceled. The Information is not
based on DIA analysis and does not represent the DIA position.
Any SCUD missile has the potential to deliver chemical or
biological agents. CW warheads are assessed to be in the Iraqi
inventory; BW warheads are possible. Iraq may have adjusted
warhead weight for CBW fills to achieve greater range, but there
is no evidence that they have done so. Iraq is more likely to
adjust warhead weight to make CBN warheads weigh the same as
conventional warheads so that flight characteristics would be more
predictable.
[ (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) ] that the operational range for
the extended range SCUD variants with conventional warheads is 600
km. The operational range for other warhead fills is probably
also 600 km.

[ (b)(1) sec 1.3(a)(4) ] that missiles armed with
chemical or biological warheads could be fired from sites in the
rear of those used for delivering conventional ordnance.
COMMENT: CBW warheads are lighter in weight than
conventional ones and can be fired from up to 735 km --- vice 600
km for conventional warheads from their targets. Consequently,
any SRBM launch in excess of 600 km should be regarded as having
the potential of delivering chemical/biological agents.
