SUMMARY:         PROJECT 75/1 WAS INTIMATELY RELATED TO IRAQI
EFFORTS IN THE BIOLOGICAL WARFARE WEAPONS PRODUCTION PROGRAM.  THE
PROJECT WAS PRIMARILY INSTITUTED TO PROVIDE COLD STORAGE 
FACILITIES
FOR VARIOUS PROJECTS BEING CONDUCTED AT THE SALMAN PAK FACILITY.
TEXT:  1.         DESIGNATION--PROJECT 75/1 WAS ALSO KNOWN AMONG
TECO ENGINEERS AS THE IBN AL HITHAM STORAGE FACILITY.  THE PROJECT
WAS ORIGINALLY COMMISSIONED AT A COST OF 300 MILLION DOLLARS.
2.         PROJECT MISSION--PROJECT 75/1 WAS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE 
THE BIOLOGIST AND CHEMIST EMPLOYED AT THE SALMAN PAK RESEARCH 
FACILITY WITH MASSIVE LONG-TERM COLD STORAGE FACILITIES.  THE 
PROJECT ALSO SERVED AS A COLD STORAGE AND TEMPERATURE-CONTROLLED 
EXPERIMENT FACILITY FOR PROJECTS BEING CONDUCTED AT THE ANIMAL 
MEDICINE FACTORY IN BAGHDAD, IZ.
3.         PERSONALITIES AND FOREIGN PERSONNEL--PROJECT 75/1 WAS
INITIALLY DIRECTED BY BEHNAM ((NA'AMAN)).  NA'AMAN WAS REPLACED BY 
A U/I DIRECTOR ON AN UNSPECIFIED DATE BEFORE 880101.  NO FOREIGN
PERSONNEL WERE PERMITTED ACCESS TO THE FACILITIES AT PROJECT 75/1 
OR SALMAN PAK.
4.         FOREIGN EQUIPMENT--ALL EQUIPMENT WAS ORIGINALLY 
SUPPLIED
AND RESUPPLIED BY THE ITALIAN GOVERNMENT.  EQUIPMENT CONSISTED
PRIMARILY OF STAINLESS STEEL PANELING, THERMOSTATS, AND INSULATED
WIRING.  NFI.
5.         OPERATIONAL STATUS--PROJECT 75/1 CONTINUED AFTER THE
CESSATION OF GULF WAR HOSTILITIES.
