Some movement of Iraqi units continued, but the
disposition of force was essentially unchanged
Near Ras RI Qulayah, Kuwait, the Iraqis were setting
up a chemical decontamination site, the first
in Kuwait since the crisis
began. The site, identical to
ones the Iraqis set up during the Iran-Iraq war,
consists of at least seven V-shaped drainage
trenches. Site preparations were not complete, and
no decontamination vehicles were present. Such
sites am used to wash down vehicles and equipment
contaminated by chemical weapons .
In Iraq, checkout and testing of new-type mobile erector-launchers for Iraqi Scud
missiles continued at Taji. The Scud missile that was erect on its erector-launcher
had been lowered A total of 12 Scud missiles were in the area.
