BIOLOGICAL WARFARE (BW) RESEARCH WAS CARRIED OUT BY
MICROBIOLOGISTS AT "AL-SALMAN" (SALMAN PAK).
2. RESEARCH ACTIVITIES SUPERVISED BY THE MICROBIOLOGIST
INCLUDED:
A. PRODUCTION OF CLOSTRIDIUM BOTULIMM A TOXIN. INCLUDING THE
MOST SUITABLE MEDIUM, CONDITIONS, STORAGE, CONCENTRATION,
APPLICATION, EFFECT ON LABORATORY ANIMALS, AND SPORULATION OF THE
BACTERIUM.
B. PRODUCTION OF CLOSTRIUM PERFRINGENS (WELCHII) SPORES:  THE
PROPER MEDIA AND CONDITIONS FOR SPORULATION AND CONCENTRATION AND
STORAGE.
C. PRODUCTION OF BACILLUS ANTHRACIS SPORES, MEDIA, CONDITIONS.
CONCENTRATION, DRYING, EFFECT ON LABORATORY ANIMALS.
APPLICATION OF A AND B ABOVE THROUGH INGESTION, INJECTION,
AND INHALATION; "ALSO THROUGH THE USE OF AIR BOMBS AND MISSILES WITH
BOOSTERS AND DOUBLE FUSES." APPLICATION OF C WAS IN CLOSED CHAMBERS.
AL-SALMAN
PRODUCED A LOT OF CLOSTRIDIUM BOTULINUM A TOXIN AND
BACILLUS ANTHRACIS SPORES, FILLING AIR BOMBS CALLED BADR 50 AND
MISSILES OF 150 LITER CAPACITY WITH CONTACT AND PROXIMITY FUSES.
THESE BW AGENTS WERE PRODUCED
OUTSIDE BAGHDAD, NOT AL-SALMAN OR AL-HAKAM.          EQUIPMENT FOR
THE BW RESEARCH WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED
IRAQIS PRODUCED MUSTARD GAS AND SARIN AT AL-MUTHANNA NEAR SAMARRA.
SOME OF THE EQUIPMENT WAS HIDDEN
