SUMMARY: THIS REPORT CONTAINS LIMITED INFORMATION ON 
DEVELOPING A DELIVERY SYSTEM FOR IRAQI CHEMICAL WEAPONS AND 
SUMMARIZES GENERAL DATA ABOUT IRAQI NUCLEAR WEAPONS DELIVERY 
SYSTEMS. 
TEXT: 1. BETWEEN 1989 AND 1990, THE IRAQI NUCLEAR WEAPONS 
PROGRAM (PETROCHEMICAL THREE (PC-3)) WAS INVOLVED IN A 
PROJECT TO DEVELOP   CONTROL DEVICE                          
FOR CHEMICAL WARHEAD-EQUIPPED SHORT RANGE BALLISTIC MISSILES 
(SRBM),SUCH AS THE AL-ABBASS AND AL-HUSSEIN. THE PC-3 
WAS INVOLVED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DEVICE WHICH 
CONTROLLED THE PROPER FUNCTIONING OF 
ITS DEVELOPMENT, IRAQI SRBMS FITTED WITH CHEMICAL WARHEADS 
HAD BEEN FLIGHT TESTED BUT DISPLAYED A VERY UNSTABLE FLIGHT 
PATH.

THE PROJECT WAS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED IN ABOUT 
1990.  BY 1991, IRAQ HAD STOCKPILED ABOUT 150 SRBMS EQUIPPED 
WITH CHEMICAL WARHEADS.  THESE WEAPONS WERE CONCEALED IN 
WOODED AREAS THROUGHOUT IRAQ. 
 
 
AS OF 1991 IRAQ DID NOT HAVE ANY NUCLEAR WEAPONS DELIVERY       
CAPABILITY.
