CHEMICAL, AND BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS

TEXT: 1 IRAQ∆S
STRATEGIC WEAPONS PROGRAMS HAVE EXPRESSED DISSATISFACTION
WITH THE LISTS SUPPLIED BY THE IRAQI GOVERNMENT TO THE
UNITED NATIONS DETAILING MISSILE, CHEMICAL, AND BIOLOGICAL
WEAPONS STILL HELD BY IRAQ.
THE DISPERSAL OF THE IRAQI MISSILE FORCES IN NOVEMBER 1990,
NOTED THAT THE LIST ONLY CONTAINED FIFTY MISSILES WHEN, IN
FACT, IRAQ RETAINED MORE THAN FIVE HUNDRED MISSILES. MOST
OF THE MISSILES REMAIN HIDDEN IN THE SAME CACHE SITES USED
TO PROTECT THEM FROM COALITION BOMBING ATTACKS.
2. ALSO NOTE THAT THERE ARE STILL
TWO BIOLOGICAL WARFARE CENTERS NEAR BAGHDAD THAT REMAIN
FUNCTIONAL
THAT IRAQ RETAINS ENOUGH CHEMICAL WARFARE MATERIAL TO
MANUFACTURE FIVE THOUSAND BOMBS OF THE ALD 500 TYPE.
ACQ: APRIL 1991).
