Amir-Abdollahian stresses strict implementation of security agreement between Iran, Iraq

Tehran (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian touched upon the importance of the security of the borders between Iran and Iraq, emphasizing the strict implementation of the security agreement between the two countries.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks during a meeting with Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq.

Amir-Abdollahian was briefed on the latest situation and developments in the West Asian country from the UN Special Representative's perspective.

The Iranian Foreign Minister deemed as intertwined and solid the relationship between Tehran and Baghdad.

Amir-Abdollahian emphasized that the strong and extensive ties are based on people's relations and comprehensive official cooperation between the two countries.

He added that in addition to the effects of such bilateral relations on the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq, they serve to the stability, development and sustainable security in the region.

The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of Iraq's regional role while pointing to the constructive and excellent relations between the two countries.

For her part, Hennis-Plasschaert explained her views on the internal and regional developments related to Iraq.

She also emphasized the constructive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the West Asian country.
