Iraqi PM congratulates victory over Daesh in Mosul
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Baghdad, July 9, IRNA -- Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi visited Mosul on Sunday and declared complete Iraqi forces' victory over Daesh (ISIS), reports said.
Al Iraqiya TV Channel said in a subtitle that al-Abadi has congratulated the great victory to the Iraqi forces during his visit to the region.
According to the reports, all the streets of Mosul have been cleaned of Daesh elements.
Iraqi forces captured on June 29, the wrecked historic mosque of Mosul in which Daesh terrorist group proclaimed its self-styled 'caliphate' three years ago.
Taking the Grand al-Nuri Mosque gives a symbolic victory to the Iraqi forces who have been battling for more than eight months to re-capture Mosul, the northern city that served as Daesh's de-facto capital in Iraq.
