Commander says Iraqi forces to approach Mosul in hours

Baghdad, Nov 1, IRNA -- Commander in charge of liberation of Nineveh in Iraq said on Monday night that Iraqi forces will be moving towards the center of Mosul in hours.

Talking to IRNA, Major General Abel Wahhab al-Saedi said the Iraqi forces who started the operation to liberate Mosul from the terrorist Daesh group two weeks ago by the order of the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, will get close to the heart of the city in hours.

He said the Iraqi forces are ready to approach the city from several different directions.

Yesterday, Director-General of Iraq's Saraya al-Khorasani Brigades Ali al-Yaseri said that Iraqi forces have entered the city of Mosul, the last stronghold of Daesh in Iraq.

Speaking exclusively with IRNA, al-Yaseri said that Iraqi Army had been deployed on suburbs of Mosul early on Monday.

Mosul liberation operation began on October 17 upon an order by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.

Tens of thousands of Iraqi security forces are involved in the operation.
