Operation for full liberation of Mosul will not stop

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Baghdad, Oct 18, IRNA -- A senior Iraqi commander said here on Tuesday that the operation for full liberation of Mosul from Daesh terrorists would not stop.

Talking to IRNA, the Commander of the Fallujah Liberation Lt. Gen. Abdul-Wahab al-Saadi said the operation for liberation of Mosul has been designed precisely and is moving forward accurately.

He added vast regions of Mosul including a large number of rural areas were liberated in the first 24 hours of the operation.

Commenting on the exact time of ending the operation, he said, there is widespread speculation in this respect, emphasizing that the process would not stop until achieving the final result.

Al-Saadi added the Iraqi forces are moving toward the predetermined goals in Mosul and are waiting for the orders to attack the terrorists at the specified time.

He said the Iraqi forces have been stationed in vast areas in the northern province of Neinava and are moving toward Mosul to siege Daesh terrorists.

Following the full clearance of Mosul from Daesh terrorists, the senior commander added, the Iraqi forces would enter the city.

Touching upon the movement of Turkish military forces in north of Iraq, he said, so far there is no report on the activities of the forces in the region.

Al-Saadi concluded that Turkish forces are stationed in their headquarters in Iraq.

Over the last few months, Iraq has been preparing for an offensive on Daesh in Mosul which slipped into the hands of the terrorists in the summer of 2014.

Government forces have managed to recapture all the other places that Daesh had seized, with the last major one being the city of Fallujah which was liberated in late June.
