The Baghdad Information Center started to provide Iraqi military with reconnaissance information and target coordinates of Daesh terrorists.
CAIRO (Sputnik) – The Baghdad Information Center created by Russia, Syria, Iraq and Iran to coordinate the fight against Daesh is gradually gaining momentum but has so far not entered the "active phase," Iraqi Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi said.
"The cooperation center in the area of security that was created in Baghdad is gradually gaining momentum. It has now started to provide the Iraqi military structures with some reconnaissance information and target coordinates of the IS [Daesh] terrorist organization. I think that in the future, [the center] will be of good use, it's currently working better than it was earlier," al-Obeidi said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The Baghdad Information Center was founded September 2015 to counter Daesh terrorists. The center is not fully operable, but there is some improvement in its operations.
"There's a bit [of improvement]. So far there's not as much use that we were counting on, but I think that it will help in mutual actions in the future," al-Obeidi added.
