Iraqi Army liberates areas in Tikrit, intense fighting continues

Tikrit, Salahuddin Province, IRNA -- Iraqi Army troops have liberated several areas in western and northern parts of the Iraqi city of Tikrit and it continues the fight to recapture the whole region.
According to IRNA reporter, Iraqi Army has taken control of Tikrit Police Faculty, Albouhassan and Zarkoosh regions as well as the area between AL Azim Dam and Tikrit.
Intense fighting in the Al-Dour and Al-Elm regions between the Iraqi Army and the Takfiri ISIL militants continues and these areas could get liberated this afternoon, according to Iraqi Army analysts.
12 major headquarters of ISIL terrorist groups in Tikrit and its suburb have been destroyed.The joint forces are reportedly tightening the noose around the Tekfiri militants.
Over 27,000 Iraqi soldiers and Shia volunteers launched a massive operation from various directions on Sunday to liberate Tikrit, the hometown of Iraq's executed dictator Saddam Hussein, from ISIL Tekfiri terrorists.
The Iraqi military backed by volunteer forces has been fighting against the ISIL terrorists in Salahuddin since mid-2014.
