This Iraqi Army officer who is popular both among the Amerli people and among the resistance forces in the region had been initially taken aback by surprise, like many other commanders, but did not surrender to the Daesh terrorist forces like some of his treacherous colleagues did. In Amerli he is called 'Aqid Mustafa' (General Mustafa). He says, "Iran played the first role in breaking the siege in this region," adding, "If Daesh's hand had reached Amerli they would have first leveled the city to the ground, and then beyond doubt they would have killed everyone in the city."
Speaking with IRNA in Amerli who is in this northern Iraqi city to prepare his report, General Ta'ie initially appreciated the Iranian officials and nation, especially the Iranian Supreme Leader and the very effective role played by Major General Qassem Soleimani us saving the region.
"At the time that Iran came to assist us no one in the world cared about the besieged people of Amerli," he said.
Speaking about the Amerli people's resistance, General Mustafa al-Ta'ie said that the region's residents preserving their solidarity and in full harmony with one another and the Iraqi Army left behind the tough 85 days of siege and became an icon in preserving the territorial integrity of Iraq.
