Iraqi army forces, Shia volunteers, and Kurdish Peshmerga fighters have jointly liberated many villages south of the city of Kirkuk from the Takfiri terrorist group ISIL.

On Wednesday, the Kurds freed six villages west of the Tuz Khurmato city from the terrorists. Benefiting from the assistance of Shia volunteers, they also liberated nine villages southwest of the city.

"Peshmerga fighters entered these villages to liberate them and evict Daesh terrorists," said Peshmerga officer Captain Jalak, using the Arabic name for the ISIL. "After meeting with our commanders at Tuz, a decision was made to start attack at 0500 at dawn."

Two other villages, just 40 kilometers south of Kirkuk, were also liberated.

The terrorists were using the areas as positions to fire mortar rounds at the nearby town of Daqduq, mainly populated by Shia Turkmen.

Kurdish Peshmerga forces regained control of the border town of Rabia in northern Iraq, a Peshmerga spokesman confirmed on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, clashes between the Iraqi army and ISIL militants continue in northern Iraq.

The Takfiri ISIL militants have suffered severe losses as the Iraqi army and Kurdish Peshmerga forces go ahead with their offensive against the terrorists in several parts of the Arab country.
