ISIL Takfiri terrorists have killed at least 50 Iraqi tribal gunmen and injured several others in a village near the northern city of Beiji.

The killings took place during heavy fighting between the terrorists and the gunmen who took up arms in alliance with government forces in Salahuddin Province.

Initial reports say dozens of ISIL militants are said to have been killed as well.

The Sunni tribes from Beiji and al-Shurqat districts also demolished a number of ISIL vehicles, while Iraqi army forces destroyed 15 ISIL vehicles in Beiji's al-Zwiya district.

Elsewhere in Falluja in Anbar Province, ISIL terrorists killed several tribal gunmen for refusing to pledge allegiance to the group.

Soldiers of the Iraqi army have been engaged in heavy fighting with the Takfiri ISIL militants on different fronts and have so far been able to push back militants in several areas.

Reports say the ISIL's advance has been slowed down as Iraqi military and volunteer forces have begun engaging militants on several fronts.

Premier Nouri al-Maliki has vowed that the country's security forces would confront the Takfiri terrorists. He has repeatedly said the US' regional allies -- Saudi Arabia, Qatar and some other Persian Gulf Arab states -- are supporting the militancy in Iraq.

Muslim leaders across Middle East and Europe continue to urge their followers not to travel to Syria or Iraq to fight for terrorist groups like the ISIL. The Imams say youngsters are being brainwashed and manipulated into fighting for agendas they barely understand.
