TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iraqi ambassador to Iran Mohammed Majid al-Sheikh rejected reports that Commander of Iran's Quds Force Qassem Soleimani and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces are in Iraq to protect the country against militants.
'As I said, we need no country in terms of weapons, foreign forces and finance. You said that your sources are some media and I said that these media are biased. Neither Brigadier General Soleimani and nor anyone else is in Iraq. They (the biased media) want to divert the path and make sedition between regional neighbors especially Iran and Iraq,' al-Sheikh said.
He reiterated that Iraqi government has not called for help from any country, and it would stand against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) relying on the nation's unity and resistance.
The ambassador said Iranian officials have had many contacts with Iraqi embassy in Iran to defend holy sites in Iraq.'Iranian people are ready to defend the religious sites, but Iraqi nation and government will never accept any foreign aid.'
