Takfiri militants of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have reportedly taking control of a crossing on the border between Iraq and Syria.
According to Iraqi security sources on Sunday, militants belonging to the terrorist group captured al-Waleed border post in the crisis-hit country's Anbar province.
Iraqi officials also reported that 21 people have been executed in the western province.
It is the second border crossing that was captured by the ISIL terrorists on the same day. Reports said that the militants took over the Turaibil crossing with Jordan as well.
Meanwhile, Iraqi security forces have inflicted heavy losses on the militants, killing more than 90 of them in operations in Tikrit and Fallujah.
Security forces also say they have killed a senior ISIL commander in clashes near the strategic town of Tal Afar.
On Saturday, a military parade was held in Baghdad in solidarity with the Iraqi army, which is engaged in heavy fighting against the terrorist group, the ISIL. The parade was called by senior Iraqi cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has repeatedly blamed Saudi Arabia and Qatar for the security crisis and growing terrorism in his country, and denounced the Al Saud regime as a major supporter of global terrorism.
