September 17, 2012
Officials in Baghdad say a suicide car-bomb attack near the city's heavily secured Green Zone has left at least seven Iraqis dead and about 20 wounded.
Other reports claimed that eight people were killed.
At least two of the dead reportedly were Iraqi soldiers, while the remaining casualties were said to be civilians.
The blast occurred during rush hour at a checkpoint near the July 14th suspension bridge across the Tigris River that leads into the Green Zone, which houses several Western embassies and other international facilities.
There were reports of gunfire following the explosion and several automobiles were reportedly set ablaze.
