Ashraf camp in Iraq sealed off

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Sept 16, IRNA -- The base for terrorism and murder of Iranian and Iraqi people under Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, Ashran camp, placing members of Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) was sealed off by the Iraqi government ending state terrorism backed by Iraqi Baathist government, the US and France.

The measure put an end to over three decades of illegal presence and activities of the terrorist group, the biggest terrorist group in the Middle East and Muslim World which won support of western governments.

The terrorist group carried thousands of terrorist operations inside Iran and joined Iraqi Baathist governemnt in war fronts during eight-year Iraqi imposed war on Iran in 1980-1988.

MKO used Iraqi petrodollars to entice some European and American legislators to legitimize its presence at Ashraf camp to continue with its shameful existence.

The leader of the group Masoud Rajavi continued its clandestine life after taking photo with Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and his wife Maryam Rajavi did her best efforts to prevent closure of the camp but to no avail.

MKO who committed crimes against Iranian and Iraqi nations and carried out various terrorist operations in Iran was black listed as terrorist group even by the US which won its political and financial supports.

Closure of Ashraf camp as the most important bastion of the group is tantamount to end of life of the terrorist group which perpetrated numerous mass killing in Iraq in coordination with army of Saddam Hussein when the then Iraqi government was involved in crackdown of Shia Muslim uprising against Iraqi central government in southern Iraq.
