Manama, Sept 23, IRNA -- Visiting Interior Minister of Iran Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar here on Thursday expressed hope that all regional countries would play a vital role in establishing security in Iraq.
Mohammad-Najjar made the remarks during the 7th ministerial meeting on Iraq in Manama, Bahrain.
Referring to the complicated and sensitive situation and quick developments in the region, he urged the regional countries to hold constant consultations in this respect.
Condemning the desecration of Holy Quran, he added the action is a sign of enemies' weakness towards the Holy Book.
Meanwhile, the interior minister held talks with Bahraini Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on the sidelines of the event on security in Iraq, issues of mutual interest and global issues, on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the two sides called for joint efforts to strengthen stability and peace in Iraq.
The 7th ministerial meeting on Iraq attended by the interior ministers of Iraq's neighboring countries aims to help ensure security across Iraq.
Iran's Mohammad-Najjar headed an Iranian delegation to the meeting.
The proposal on holding a meeting of neighboring states on Iraq was first made by the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2003, and it was then planned to hold the related meetings annually.
