Iran derides US ambassador to Iraq for unfounded allegations

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, August 18, IRNA -- Iran on Wednesday derided US Ambassador to Baghdad Christopher Hill for allegations over Iranian interference in Iraq.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said that the US officials have got used to expressing unfounded allegations against others.

Speaking to IRNA, he said the US refuses to respect the other countries and the public opinion.

US ambassador in Iraq has blamed Iran for interfering in Iraq’s internal affairs.

Telling lies has become a norm for the US officials, he said.

"Such illogical comments by US officials are not something new for the international community."

US dares to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries through masterminding military takeover, assassination of political figures, propaganda campaign against revolutionary leaders to attain its sinister goals, Mehmanparast said.

He said that the blatant interference of the US forces in Iraq is quite obvious and there is nothing to explain about the US practices.

Mehmanparast said that Iran and Iraq are longstanding neighbors and will remain neighborly forever with deep-rooted religious and cultural affinity.

The Iranian nation will back the Iraqi nation forever; he said adding that Iran spares no effort to help resolve the Iraqi problems.

The fate of Iran and the Muslim nations in the region are integrated, and this is the US which is an unwanted guest and should leave the region, Mehmanparast said.

"The US should learn to stay at home and not to interfere in the affairs of other nations."
