Mihman-Parast: No one should interfere in Iraq's election
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, March 29, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast said on Monday that Iraq’s parliamentary election is a national issue in which no one should interfere.
Speaking to IRNA, he said the Iraqi people rushed to polling station to establish democracy in the war-torn country and the interference of others will harm such a trend.
Meddling in the domestic affairs of Iraq or siding with one group or political wing will weaken the status of democracy in the country, he said.
The massive turnout of the Iraqi people in ballot boxes should be taken as a good omen, he said and voiced Iran’s readiness for constructive cooperation with the countries of the region and Islamic neighbors in dealing with regional developments.
The Islamic Republic of Iran which shares border with Iraq calls for success of the upcoming Iraqi government, he said, adding that Iran spares no effort to assist countries in the region such as Iraq to restore peace and stability to the region.
