Tehran denounces propaganda over Iran-Iraq border issue

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Dec 22, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast said on Tuesday that certain media were trying to influence the current friendly ties between Iran and Iraq.

The spokesman made the remarks during his weekly press conference while commenting on the recent claims by certain Western media about emerging border disputes between Iran and its western neighbor.

“The issue of demarcation of borders between the two countries after the eight-year imposed war and due to the occurrence of some natural events afterward is needed,” Mihman-Parast stated.

He said that Tehran has already asked for “setting up of a committee to study the issue of demarcation of Iran-Iraq borders in order to remove misunderstandings.”

Mihman-Parast “strongly” rejected some allegations about confiscating of a plane loaded with weapons from North Korea for Iran.

“It is crystal clear that those allegations were put forward to exert psychological and political pressures on Iran,” said the spokesman.

He further referred to the issue of the three American nationals who are being held in Iran saying, “Their cases should be followed up by the judicial system.”
