VP: No obstacle on more cooperation between Tehran-Baghdad

Tehran, Dec 13, IRNA -- First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi in a meeting with visiting Iraqi Electricity Minister Karim Vahid said that there is no obstacle in the way of promoting cooperation level between Tehran and Baghdad.
According to Presidential Office website on Saturday, Rahimi told visiting Iraqi minister that there are not two countries in the world that have deep cultural and historical commonalities like Iran and Iraq and enemies are trying hard to prevent such connection, so we have to make our relation so strong that they cannot have any effect on it.
He also added that Tehran strongly supports mutual cooperation in the fields of power and energy and said that Iran’s Energy Ministry has many experts and expertise companies and is ready to cooperate with Iraq in different fields .
Karim Vahid, by referring to the new conditions of the world and Middle East region, called for strengthening bilateral ties with Iran in different fields, including energy and electricity.
He added that some countries in the Persian Gulf region are worried about Iran’s success and they do not want these two nations to get closer to each other, because this proximity means their weakness.
The Iraqi minister evaluated mutual agreements between the two countries 'very good and appropriate' and called for acceleration of implementing agreements especially in the fields of electricity and energy.
