Iraqi FM acknowledges Iran's leading role to bolster regional peace

Manama, Dec 12, IRNA -- Iraq’s Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran plays a leading role to restore regional peace and security.
Zebari made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on the sidelines of conference on regional security in Manama.
Lauding Iran’s supports for Iraq, he called the visit with his Iranian counterpart as significant to expand cooperation between the two countries.
There are ample of untapped grounds for expansion of economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries which should be further explored, he said.
The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, strongly condemned the recent terrorist bomb blasts which took lives of many innocent Iraqis.
Those who seek to foment insecurity and destabilize democracy in Iraq are behind such sinister moves, he said.
Given Iraq’s rich culture and civilization, Iraq should find its real status in regional developments and the upcoming elections in the country would be consider as a new chapter to this effect, Mottaki said.
