Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House Tuesday.

Ahead of the talks, Mr. Maliki attended a U.S. - Iraq business investment conference in Washington with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Mr. Maliki told the group Iraq is a "good environment for investments." He also said the country wants to pursue more partnerships in the economic and diplomatic fields.

Clinton urged U.S. businesses to consider the progress made in Iraq. She also said companies that wait too long could discover that it is too late to invest.

Clinton and Mr. Maliki also met on Monday. After those talks, Clinton said the U.S. hopes to pave the way for greater international investment in Iraq and closer diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The secretary said she and Mr. Maliki also discussed the upcoming Iraqi elections, and that she pledged U.S. support to ensure the elections are legitimate.
