17:04 07/08/2009 MOSCOW, August 7 (RIA Novosti) - At least 37 people were killed and more than 100 wounded in a series of attacks in Iraq, al-Jazeera said on Friday.

The bombs targeted Shiite pilgrims and worshippers, with three blasts occurring in Baghdad and one outside a Shiite mosque near the city of Mosul, some 400 km north of the capital.

Police said 30 people died and 88 were injured in the Mosul bombing, with people worshipping at Friday prayers buried in the rubble of the mosque.

The Baghdad attacks targeted a minibus full of pilgrims and two groups traveling on foot, with four killed and eight injured on the minibus and three of the pedestrians killed and 13 wounded.

Last week a series of blasts outside Shiite mosques in Baghdad killed 31 people.

Shiite religious gatherings are frequent targets of Sunni Islamist attacks.
