Iran ready for cooperatives cooperation with Iraq: minister

Baghdad, May 31, IRNA -- Iran’s Minister of Cooperatives Mohammad Abbasi here on Sunday voiced Iran’s readiness to cooperate with the neighboring Iraq in the area of cooperatives.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals Fawzi al-Hariri at the end of his one day visit to Baghdad and prior to his departure for Tehran.

Referring to the unemployment and housing issues as the two major problems facing the Iraqi people, al-Hariri called for Iran’s participation in the housing sector in his country. He added that Iraq is in need of three million housing units.

Meanwhile, in his meeting with Iraqi Minister of Finance Bayan Jabr, the Iranian minister called for further expansion of all-out ties with the neighboring Iraq.

Underlining the need for the sharing of experiences with the Islamic Republic, Jabr voiced his country’s readiness to dispatch delegations to Iran to that end.

He said the visit to Iraq by the Iranian minister and his accompanying delegation provided a good opportunity for further expansion of Tehran-Baghdad cooperation.
