Hosseini: US concept about realities in Iraq erroneous
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, April 9, IRNA
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said on Wednesday that the report issued by the top US general General David Petraeus and Ambassador to Baghdad Ryan Crocker to the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations committees indicated that they have wrong concept about the realities and factual developments in war-shattered Iraq.
Both tried to justify their failures which are rooted in the wrong policies of the US in Iraq, Hosseini said.
According to the General Information and Press Bureau of the Foreign Ministry, Hosseini said the report indicated the increase in the number of US troops to Iraq resulting to further carnage and displacement of masses of innocent people in the country.
While the move will fail to attain its objectives, it will lead to the destruction of residential buildings as well as infrastructures, he added.
The Americans cannot play with words or lay blame on others in order to justify their misdeeds, he said.
Referring to the widespread dissent in the US, he said subsequent defeat of the US in Iraq has become the core of the differences within the US administration and has extended the country's psychological, political and economic crisis thus holding back US officials from taking a bold action.
To end the crisis in Iraq, the Iraqi people should administer their own affairs and the occupying forces should set up a time table for withdrawing their forces from the country, Hosseini said.
