Iran export to Iraq via Kurdestan border falls

Export via Kurdestan border points decreased in the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2007), director general of the provincial customs office said on Monday.
Alireza Allahyari told IRNA that the decline was 22 and 21 percent in terms of value and weight respectively.
He noted that the surge in customs tariff in Iraq, uncertainty among businessmen to continue export amid temporary closure of border points are among the most important reasons for the fall.
According to the official, Iran exported 289,186 tons of commodities worth of dlrs 164 million through customs offices of the western province to Iraq over the past nine months.
Allahyari said that agriculture products, house appliances, industrial and mineral outputs, processed food, livestock products, clothing, construction materials and steels were among export items.
Kurdestan's Export, import and transit of goods are conducted from four customs offices of Marivan, Baneh, Saqez and Sanandaj.
