Iran would attend the fourth round of talks with US on Iraq if requested by Baghdad, Foreign Ministry spokesman, Mohammad-Ali Hosseini, said on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters at his weekly press conference, the spokesman said, "Iran is still ready for talks in order to help the Iraqi people and government, although we have witnessed no change in the US policies."
Commenting on recent US threats against Iran, Hosseini said, "Washington is not in a position to carry out its threats." US threats are nothing new, said the spokesman adding, "We have seen no grounds prepared for carrying out those threats."
Stressing that Iran enjoys "a strong defensive power", Hosseini hoped that those wise people among US officials would try to prevent any event which would lead to more problems for US in the region."
