Larijani: If US approves Iran's paradigm, Baghdad talks would be continued

Madrid, June 2, IRNA
Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani said on Saturday that if the Americans approve Iran's proposal and paradigm on resolving Iraq's issues, the talks would be continued.
It was the first round of official talks between Iran and American after 27 years since diplomatic ties were severed.
Speaking to IRNA, he said, "We held the first round of talks on the basis of proposal extended to us by the Americans and Iraqi leaders in which we advised them how to overcome the current situation in Iraq."
He said, "If they accept this paradigm and help us resolve Iraq's issue, talks would be continued."
Iraq's talks is to help overcome existing bottlenecks and ease the excessive pressure exerted upon Iraqi nation, he said adding that Iran is very serious in resolving the issue.
"We are to help restore security in Iraq and stabilize current political situation in this neighboring Muslim state," he underlined.
"Increased security in our neighborhood would be to the benefit of the region," he said adding that restoration of security is much better than overriding concerns for nations in the region, that is why 'we are so serious and determined in our course'.
Talks on Iraq's development is completely different from Iran's nuclear activities but the diplomatic means sounds more rational in resolving both cases, he said.
