No connection between Iraq, nuclear issue: Hosseini

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, May 20, IRNA
Iran-Iraq-Hosseini-Nuclear
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said here Sunday Tehran does not agree with connecting the two cases of Iran's peaceful nuclear program and the Iraqi issue.

Hosseini who was speaking at his weekly press conference, made the remark in response to a reporter who linked the upcoming talks between Iran's Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani and the US foreign policy chief Javier Solana and Iran-US talks on Iraq.

If others are intended to create a link between the two cases, we reject it, he reiterated.

Asked whether a representative from Syria would also attend the US-Iran talks on Iraq slated for June 28, the spokesman said, "Syria plays no role in the talks but an Iraqi representative will be present at the meeting."

On localization of construction of nuclear power plants in Iran, he said, "We will continue our peaceful nuclear activities and construction of power plants. The process will not be stopped."
