Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Thursday that the international conference on Iraq should mainly aim to attract the support of countries to restore security in the country.

Mottaki made the remark in a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh.

He told Zebari, "Your visit to Tehran and our idea that the goals of this conference should be transparent and following Prime Minister Nouri al-Maleki's contact with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the issue, Iran decided to attend the conference."

Mottaki said that Iran is participating in this conference to witness that the final statement to be issued at the end of the event will include the support of participants for Iraqi will.

"Some parties presume that by disrupting the conditions they can pursue their own goals, which are against the will of Iraqi nation.

"However, they should realize the actual direction of the will of Iraqi nation," he added.

The Iranian minister said the framework of the meeting of Iraq's neighboring countries is underlined by Iran, adding that the Iranian government insists on holding such a meeting in Egypt.

For his part, Zebari appreciated Iran's wise decision to attend the Sharm el-Sheikh conference.

The Iraqi minister said that Iran's presence at the conference is highly significant to Iraq and that such a decision has added to the importance of the event.

"The chaos and political failures in Iraq will leave their impact on Iraq and its neighboring countries," he added.

Zebari said that support for Iraqi government, severe condemnation of terrorism and formation of three committees in charge of security, fuel and refugees are among our goals to be included in the final statement of the conference.
