Iran-Iraq-Larijani
Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani said on Wednesday the international meeting on Iraqi security in Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh should pay heed to interests of the Iraqi people.

Larijani was speaking at Mehran international border after he wound up a three-day visit to Iraq.

"The meeting will be useful, if it helps with reconstruction and development of Iraq.

"But it will bear no fruit, if there are other motives," he said.

He added the meeting can be held better while preserving its goals and said Iran has expressed concerns in this regard.

He stated that Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki would declare Iran's stance at the meeting.

The SNSC secretary stressed the importance of establishing stability and security in Iraq.

Pointing to good Tehran-Baghdad ties, he voiced Iran's readiness to supply needs of the Iraqi people.

He said the two countries' officials have signed several agreements and are following up implementation of them.

He stated that Iranian and Iraqi political officials should hold regular consultations on various political, cultural, social and economic issues.

Larijani assessed as "positive" his visit to Iraq, saying in his talks with Iraqi officials, the sides discussed situation in common borders, transit of goods and export of various products.
