PM: Iraq territory not a place for settling regional conflicts

Iraq Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, in the opening ceremony of Baghdad meeting here Saturday, said Iraq will not allow its territory to be used as a place for settling regional and international conflicts and is ready to play a role on solving disputes and finding peaceful solutions.
He added Baghdad meeting indicates support of the world countries, especially neighboring and regional countries for Iraqi national unity government.
All these countries are responsible for creation of stability and tranquility in Iraq and drying out the financial and logistical resources of terrorists, Al-Maliki said.
He went on to say Iraq is the main place for confronting with terrorism but it needs support and logistical help of all friendly countries, especially neighboring ones.
He warned, "If we do not stop terrorism here, it will spill over to other countries of the region."
Nuri al-Maliki called on all countries who support terrorism in Iraq to stop all kinds of financial, media, religious and logistical assistance to it.
Baghdad meeting is a turning point for Iraqi national unity government in fighting against terrorism as the main danger for current Iraq, the PM said.
He asked all participating countries to take a united stance towards current situation in Iraq and terrorism.
He expressed hope that Baghdad meeting can return Iraq to its natural place.
Concerning his government work plans from the first day of coming to office, Nuri al-Maliki said, " National reconciliation is our strategic choice to take Iraq to the coast of tranquility and peace."
