An Iranian lawmaker said here Saturday that Iran's sending a letter to the UN on kidnapping of its diplomats by the US forces is a positive move.

Rapporteur of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Kazem Jalali told IRNA that the US has been launching adverse propaganda on the diplomats, giving wrong signals to show Iran as factor of instability, insecurity and conflict in Iraq.

He said that Iran should use all international capacity and lodge complaint at international forums on the issue.

He added that Iraqi government should take serious actions in connection with the diplomats' abduction.

"Naturally, the kidnapping is in violation of Iraqi government and nation's sovereignty because the diplomats had been guests to the Iraqi government and were present in Erbil on an invitation by the government," commented Jalali.

He called on the Iraqi government to do its best to secure release of the diplomats.

Elsewhere in the interview, Jalali said the US strategy today is based on making Iran angry and dragging it into the battle line.

To cover up their humiliating defeat in Iraq, the US hardliner neo-conservatives put the blame on others, including Iran, said the MP.

He added that under such conditions Iran should act wisely and avoid any hasty action.

Iran on Friday, January 19, sent a letter to the UN Chief in which it officially complained against the kidnapping of five of its diplomats in the Iraqi city of Erbil by the US forces.

Iran has also called on the UN, the UN Security Council notably, to give crushing and immediate response to the aggression.

The US forces on January 11 stormed Iranian consulate in Erbil, Iraq, and kidnapped five of its staff in violation of international regulations regarding diplomatic activities and immunity of diplomats and legations.
