US attempts to radicalize Iran's policy in Iraq: MP

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Jan 20, IRNA

A legislator here on Saturday said that the US tries to lead Iran's policy in Iraq to radicalism.

Heshmatollah Falahat-Pisheh told IRNA that Iranians' letter to the UN Secretary General is considered the country's complaint in the face of US violation of Iran's sovereignty and international laws.

Pointing to the consulates of the countries in other states as a part of their territory, he added that the international community should seriously consider Iran's complaint on the violation of its sovereignty in Iraq to prevent the repetition of such acts in the Middle East, particularly in the Arab country.

Member of the Majlis' National Security and Foreign Policy Commission underlined the need to follow up the complaint through international communities, and added that the Americans attempt to lead Iran's policy in Iraq to radicalism, and attribute terrorist policy to Tehran.

"Not only Iran's diplomacy, but also Iraqi Shiites' policy are based on international regulations and Iraq's domestic rules," he said.

The MP further said, "Iran has not yet retaliated the US policies and acts," adding that the Islamic Republic has always kept its cool on the acts of provocation and underlined the need for observing international and domestic laws in Iraq.

He noted that kidnapping Iranian diplomats in Iraq is considered violation of Iraq's sovereignty, and added, Iraqi people and government are making every effort to urge the US to give the fate of the country back to the nation and end the occupation.

Iran officially delivered a letter to the UN secretary general expressing its strong protest against the kidnapping five Iranian diplomats in Erbil, Iraq, and called on the UN and UN Security Council in particular, to respond the US aggression against Iranians immediately and decisively.

The US forces infringed international rules governing diplomatic activities, immunity of diplomats, and their buildings by raiding Iran's consulate in Iraq.
