Spokesman: US attack on Iranian Consulate, anti-Iraq measure

Government spokesman, Gholam-Hossein Elham, said here Monday that the attack by US troops on Iran's Consular Office in the northern Iraqi city of Erbil is an action against the Iraqi government.
Speaking to domestic and foreign reporters in this week's press conference, he under lined that US officials should be answerable to Iraq's government which has objected to the action.
Turning to attempts by the Iraqi government to release Iranian diplomats, he hoped for their early release urging the American forces to stop such inhuman acts.
Meanwhile, he underlined that Iran is entitled to pursue its nuclear right through international legal channels.
Turning to the decisive role of Saudi Arabia in the region, he said that the visit of the Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani to Riyadh had to do with expansion of bilateral and multifaceted exchanges as well as forging unity among Islamic states.
Elham also referred to stopping foreign interference in the Middle East as one of the issues pursued during Larijani's visit.
"Regional countries can solve the issue by forging favorable relations and continue the trend of their progress without relying on others," he added.
